Buona fortuna, Francesco!

I had an interesting experience working in the advising office yesterday. At about half past one, two guys with matching blue dress shirts came in (one reminded me of The Situation with his gelled hair and sunglasses indoors, but I don't want to come across as being the type of person who stereotypes). After about 10 minutes of garbled English, I learned that they came from Italy to San Francisco to start up a website where people can find psychotherapists and video chat with them (??????????). They decided to stop by Berkeley to get opinions of professors about their ingenious idea. There were some entertaining bits in the middle of all of this confusion.

Italian guy: Do you speak Italian?
Me: No. Do you speak French?
Italian guy: No.
Me: Do you speak Spanish?
Italian guy: No. Do you speak Latin?
Me: LATIN IS A DEAD LANGUAGE.
Italian guy: NO IT'S NOT.

Me: Wait, so why exactly are you in Berkeley again?
Italian guy: The guy in San Francisco told us to come here because of the intellectual vivacity. Vivacity? Is that how you say in English?
Me: I think vivacity is a word, but I never hear anybody say it. How about fervor?
Italian guy: Ah. Fervor. Okay.

Italian guy: Why do we speak English but you don't speak Italian?
Me: Why are you here?

And then I went to class. I never did exactly understand how they ended up here and what they were truly looking for. But whatever it was, I hope they found it.
